Winter Maintenance
Blanche worked many of
the trains through the Christmas and New Year period and is expected to be the
high mileage single engine this season.
The policy is to get the
most out of the remaining boiler ticket and take advantage of the running gear
being in generally good
condition.
Since Christmas the
RicketRescue team and the works staff have stripped the valve gear, re-fixed the
the weighbar balance weight as it was loose and replaced all the pins and bushes
in the valve gear. She has also had her annual boiler inspection which
she
passed without problem. This was done earlier than necessary (it only having
been done last August) so she can go through the season without further testing.
After a test run on
22/02/01 Blanche pulled the service trains on 23/02/01 and is scheduled to work
through the
weekend.
The following photo's show here making her way through Minffordd on 23rd February 2001. Thanks to MacTalkative for the demonstration of his digital Christmas prezzie.
